"THE STOA OF EUMENES

Above the theatre is the Stoa of Eumenes, which was built by the King of Pergamus, Eumenes II in the 2nd century BC. The arch provided shelter to theatregoers in case of bad weather or shade from the sun. Nearby are the ruins of the Asklepeion of Athens, which was built in 429 BC, following the plague, which decimated the population."
